In my house, we are always looking for new finger foods that are both Dr. Brown approved AND kid approved. These bacon-wrapped sausage links are just that and very versatile for an any-time-of-day protein-packed meal or snack. For breakfast serve with maple syrup, or for lunch or dinner serve with guacamole or ketchup. Because we suggest using turkey bacon and non-pork sausage, this recipe is also much better for you than you might have originally thought!
Ingredients:
- 1 t olive oil
- 1 package organic, uncured turkey bacon
- 4 organic chicken, turkey or beef sausage links
- 2 T pure maple syrup, optional for breakfast
- Sea salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 400F. In a skillet heat oil and add sausage. Brown well on all sides.
Remove and allow to cool for comfortable touch. Lay bacon out with 1-2 strips slightly overlapped (depending on size of sausage) and add sausage on one end.
Roll at a slight angle.
Salt and pepper to taste.
For breakfast, brush with maple syrup.
Place on baking dish, making sure end of bacon is against bottom of pan, and bake 15-20 minutes.
If you would like more crisp add back to skillet and brown and turn.
Serve with syrup, guacamole or your favorite condiment.
